Frequently asked questions
How is my rank on the leaderboard calculated?
What counts is your change in percent compared with your starting weight, not in kilograms. That way everyone plays on the same field, no matter how much they weigh.
Change: (starting weight minus current weight) divided by starting weight. We score the value from the weigh-in day, not an average, and never less than 0 %.
Example: starting weight 80 kg, 77.6 kg on the weigh-in day. That is 3 %, and you enter the leaderboard with 3 %.
A steady pace pays off: if you keep at it week after week, you collect streaks, achievements and chances at "MVP of the week". In your own history you always see your real value.
What happens if I gain weight?
Others never see a negative value. The leaderboard shows 0 %. Only you see your real history.
What does "consistency" mean?
It is the second score. It counts how many weigh-in days you took part in. If two people have the same percentage, consistency decides, then alphabetical order. At the end, everyone except the top three is shown with their consistency, and no one is ever marked as last.
I missed the weigh-in day. Can I add my weight later?
Yes. You can add it up to 48 hours after the weigh-in day. The value then counts for that weigh-in day. We store the real date of the measurement.
If you miss a weigh-in day completely, your last valid value stays. There is no deduction, only your consistency count is one lower. After two missed weigh-in days you are shown as "paused". Nobody sees a reason.
I made a typo. How do I correct a value?
Tap the entry in your history and change it. This works until the late entry window closes, 48 hours after the weigh-in day. The organizer sees the label "corrected" for changed values, but not the old value. After that no more changes are possible. If there is an obvious mistake, email us.
When do I need to enter my starting weight?
Your starting weight counts if you entered it no more than 3 days before the start. Otherwise the app reminds you to weigh in on the start day. If you join after the start (possible until halfway through), your first weigh-in counts as your starting weight.
Can I weigh in every day?
Yes. Daily entries are private: only you see them, in your history. Only the weigh-in day goes on the leaderboard. If you enter a value during the weigh-in window, that entry is also your weigh-in for the week, and the last entry in the window counts.
Who can see my weight?
Everyone in the challenge knows it is about losing weight. That is why, by default, the group sees your change in percent and in kg, your starting weight and your weight on the weigh-in day, also on your detail page. With "Hide my kg" you can hide your kg at any time; percentages stay visible. If the challenge is set to "percent only", nobody sees kg. Only you see your daily entries between weigh-in days.
What about share images?
Share images, the weekly report, the recap and the export show nicknames and values by default. The person sharing can switch off "Show nicknames" and "Show values". If you do not want to appear with your values, choose "Hide my kg" or "Hide my values". The preview images of the weekly report and the result, which anyone with the link and code can open, also show nicknames and values by default. With "Hide my values" you appear there only as "Place n".
What happens in the match log?
The match log (feed) shows what is going on in your challenge: who weighed in, who climbed places, who is MVP of the week, new achievements, shouts and stickers. You can respond to any entry with a fixed reaction such as 🔥 or 💪. Shouts and stickers come from a fixed list, there is no free text. Other members' weights never appear in the match log.
What is the 1v1?
Your 1v1 is the person directly above you on the leaderboard. If you are in front, you defend your lead against the person directly behind you. If you are only just behind, you get a notification once a week, such as "Only 0.3% to place 2". If someone overtakes you, you hear about that too.
What does nudging mean?
If someone's value for the week is still missing, you can nudge them, once per week and person. A nudge is a short reminder without text. Nobody gets more than three nudges a day.
How do teams and my personal goal work?
The organizer can split the group into teams. A team is scored by the average of its members in percent, so big and small teams compete fairly.
Only you can see your personal goal. If you want, milestones you reach appear in the match log, but without numbers and without your goal.
How do I get reminders in the browser?
If you play in the browser, you have two options: browser notifications (web push) or a calendar subscription with all weigh-in days. The calendar subscription is a secret link without weights that you can renew or revoke at any time. You choose which notifications you get in the settings; we never send more than one a day.
Can I use Apple Health or Health Connect?
Yes, if you allow it. Lossboard only reads your weight and never writes anything back. Today's value is suggested on the weigh-in screen and only saved once you confirm it. The import is not available in the browser.
I have a new phone. How do I take my participation with me?
Lossboard does not need an account. Your participation is tied to your device. That is why there is a recovery code under "Me → Recovery code". Write it down or keep it somewhere safe. On the new device, choose "Restore participation" and enter the code. If you added an email address, you can get a one-time code sent to you instead.
Without the code we cannot restore your participation. You can then join the challenge again, and the organizer removes the old entry.
How do I leave or delete my data?
- Leave a challenge: in the challenge under "Group → Leave". Your weight data for that challenge is deleted immediately. The others no longer see anything about you, and the organizer sees "left the challenge".
- Delete all data: under "Me → Data → Delete all my data". We delete everything that belongs to you. If you organize a running challenge, the role passes to the member who has been in it the longest.
- Export data: under "Me → Data → Export" you get all your data as a file.
Without you doing anything, we delete weigh-ins 6 months and scale photos 30 days after a challenge ends. The privacy policy has the details.
What does usage analytics collect and how do I turn it off?
To improve Lossboard we use PostHog (stored in the EU) to see which screens and features are used, plus loading times and errors. In the browser we also record the course of sessions. Weights, percentages, nicknames, challenge names and inputs are always hidden. You can turn it off at any time: in the app under "Me → Settings", in the browser under "Me" with the switch "Share usage data". More in section 11 of the privacy policy.
How do I report something?
Tap "Report" on a nickname, an agreement, a shout or a photo. The content is hidden from the group immediately, and we usually review it within 48 hours. Nobody finds out who reported it.
How much does Lossboard cost?
Nothing for up to 3 people. For larger groups only the organizer pays, once per challenge, with no subscription. Participants never pay. A challenge is never locked after it has started. The terms of use have the details.
What is the agreement?
A voluntary arrangement among you, for example "The winner picks the restaurant". The app does not handle money and does not calculate anything. Agreements are not legally enforceable (Section 762 of the German Civil Code).
